Asbestos Research
Taylor Research Group (TRG) is one of the premier research companies for asbestos litigation. Whether your asbestos case involves specialized equipment aboard maritime vessels or commercial products such as brake pads or floor tiles, you can trust TRG’s knowledge and experience.
Asbestos in Maritime Vessels
In our research, we regularly identify the manufacturers of boilers, turbines, pumps, valves, condensers, distillers, turbogenerators and other machinery and equipment aboard U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and Maritime Commission vessels. We frequently determine through available archival and agency records whether asbestos-containing insulating material was present in any of the machinery aboard a particular vessel, and where that machinery was located. We regularly retrieve ship diaries and muster rolls that can be used to verify when a certain individual was aboard a vessel and identify their shipmates. Our knowledge of maritime records, as well as our proximity to the National Archives in both College Park, MD, and Washington, DC, the Naval History and Heritage Command and the US Coast Guard Historian’s Office allow us to conduct efficient and effective research into these matters.
Commercial Products and Military Applications
TRG is routinely hired by law firms to locate information on the use of asbestos in brake pads, gaskets, tire repair kits, rebar splicing kits, appliances, vehicle insulation, fire-resistant coatings, and various other commercial and military products. We work with our clients to identify specifications, handbooks, advertisements, trade catalogs and literature, and other historical documentation to demonstrate the use, marketing, and regulation of these products.
Asbestos in Historic Properties
Additionally, our historic property services help TRG clients find records relating to asbestos use in historic buildings. Homes built between the 1930s and 1970s may have used asbestos as insulation, and it can also be found in roofing, siding shingles, cement sheet, flooring, boilers, heating and piping, and electrical equipment such as fuse boxes and insulated wiring. TRG uncovers advertisements, appliance manuals, inspection and assessment reports, applications and approvals for maintenance work, and product recall announcements to determine the historic presence of asbestos, as well as who may have manufactured, installed, replaced, or repaired it
